Cutbacks

The girls tried out this difficult surfing manoeuvre…first with some skateboard practice and then out into the waves. This one takes a long time to perfect! Watch how they went and get some tips as well.

The cutback is used when the wave flattens out or becomes fat. If you find yourself too far out on the wave face and losing speed, then it’s time to turn back towards the curl (the power source of the wave).
This video focuses on a few key words to think about when you’re trying it.

  1. Oh this is very exciting. I haven’t been practicing and this is a really good reminder. Set one two is a good idea because time seems to slow down when you are on a wave and so I seem to do things very quickly. I am going to watch the vids again.
